Shameless Exploitation

I just received the nicest (knitting) compliment…I’m a new member of Ravelry and have been slowly trying to get my project information catalogued.  This morning I received a request to feature my photo of Yummy Socks by Beth Brown-Reinsel on their pattern page!  I knit these socks last month (you can see them via the link in my side bar) and really love the way they turned out (it may just be coincidence but so far the best/nicest looking socks I’ve made have been on two circular needles vs. double-points); but I’m cataloguing for ME, not for the primary purpose of sharing my finished projects with others (though I do like this feature of the site as well).  I’m truly humbled. 

 I know - it doesn’t take much, but that just made my entire day!

p.s. still waiting to hear about the job, but as of this morning I do know that an offer has NOT been made to the other person yet either - makes me feel better as I wait this out!  They’re hoping today or tomorrow.

My First KISS

Here it is…my first K.I.S.S.! Well…not too bad! I learned a couple lessons about blocking, though, that will definitely help with my next one (and there will definitely be a next one).

I used Rowan Tapestry on size 7 needles; this is so nice and warm as I write this on a day where it’s -40 degrees here in MN! I went outside long enough to try this on and see how well it ‘works’ in the cold. Otherwise we don’t go out when it’s 40 below!

My BF made me one for Christmas and I was on a mission to make one, too! I’m a freeze baby and always in turtle necks in the winter, so this is a great change of pace from a scarf. Here’s the one knitgirl63 made me: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/knitgirl63/kiss-keep-it-simple-scowl.

Now I can start what I should have done before the K.I.S.S. which is my son’s earflap hat that he’s been waiting for (in my defense he was gone for the weekend when I was going to start his hat but he needed to provide his input before I could start…and who wants to have a whole weekend without something to knit, so I started the K.I.S.S. instead!).

A few more finished knit projects…

I’m trying to get better organized so am slowly getting my completed projects fully documented.  I’ve added a few over on the sidebar:  Ruth’s Scarf (which is a truly horrible picture and doesn’t do a good job showing the pattern of the scarf, but it was my very first attempt at creating my own pattern), Simple Socks (my first time using 2 circular needles), Fingerless Mittens and Felted Mittens.  I need to check in with knitgirl63 to see if she remembers what the pattern was for the Felted Mittens because I’m pretty sure I borrowed it from her to do these a looong time ago!
