Valentine Surprise

This is really so out of character for my husband; he views Valentine’s Day as a “Hallmark holiday” and he usually invests a couple bucks at Hallmark for a nice card.  So this was extremely (and pleasantly, of course) unexpected!  What I love even more than the gorgeous flowers is the time and effort he put into getting just the right thing.  These are Peruvian Lilies that are grown and shipped fresh from the Andes in South America.  There are 100 flowers!

A gift from the HEART is truly the most cherished gift, isn’t it?!

Anyone else born without the patience gene?

Posted by MeTymeMN on February 11, 2008

I had a total of 6 different interviews last week for a job, and now it’s the waiting game.  Unfortunately, I don’t do well with the waiting game.  I had the ugliest internal fight with myself all day today trying not to call the recruiter with the lame, see-through excuse of having some questions when I really just wanted to know if they’d made a decision yet (it’s down to me and one other person, and they thought the decision would be made today or tomorrow).  My better self won and I didn’t make the call, but can feel my confidence level diminish significantly as each minute ticks by…which is why I don’t do well with the waiting game!

For those out there who pray…I would love a prayer or two that if this job is not what’s in God’s plan for me that He give me the strength to continue forging ahead looking for the job that is.  For others out there – I would also love just a positive thought that this all comes together.  I should mention that I’ve been out of work for over a year and a half…the first 13 months I was on severance, then the next six months on unemployment.  I’ve been seriously looking for probably close to 8-10 months now and always seem to get sooooo close, but in the end obviously no offer has been extended yet.

Hopefully my next post will be a very positive one!

This is what happens when she knows I’m getting ready to leave for a while – she’ll flip onto her back with her front paws curled in and her back legs sticking up…she knows I canNOT resist this!  Who could??!!

Finally a HOT Shower

Posted by MeTymeMN on February 7, 2008

It’s amazing how the littlest things can set your mood for the day.  I can’t remember the last time that I – being the 4th and last person in the shower every morning – ended up basking in a HOT shower!  Usually it’s tepid at best, and that’s with a water heater the size of a small rocket and a hot water pump that gets it from the heater in the basement to the bathrooms two stories up between 5:00-8:00a.m. every morning.  So now that I’ve had a hot shower I find myself in just happy-little-camper mode!  My “chores” are done and I don’t have to be anywhere for an hour, so I think a little piano time is in order.

Have an awesome blossom day!

Wow – I’m blogging!

Posted by MeTymeMN on February 3, 2008

My best friend helped me get set up over the weekend…I’ve never blogged before so this is my first time!  I have a feeling the look and feel of this little site is going to change a hundred times in the near future while I learn all the ins and outs of this.

The title MeTyme (as in me time) is pretty self-explanatory – a place where I can share information on the things that interest me.  Being the only female in a house full of boys (not including our 3 cats) I’ve come to expect very low enthusiasm when I finish a pair of socks for instance – husband and kids are all supportive for sure, but in their defense it’s probably as exciting to them as it is to me when one of the kids tells me he hit level 70 in World of Warcraft…it’s not something I can directly relate to so I smile and say “that’s great,” which is what I get in return!

Other than knitting I crochet, cross-stitch, would love to needlepoint but am not yet ready to sink that kind of money into it, and I love love love to read and play the piano.  I started taking piano lessons 2 years ago after hitting a mid-life crisis and turning 40, quitting my 14-year job (I volunteered for a layoff) and thinking about all the things I’ve always wanted to do but hadn’t/couldn’t, like playing the piano.  My first trip to Vegas will still have to wait – probably a good idea to have a job and an income first!

That’s it for now – just wanted to get a little introduction out there.  I’m watching the clock as I have a series of job interviews this afternoon 39.7 miles southwest of where I live, right at the time that they’re predicting anywhere from 2-7″ of snow(!), and need to go make some breakfast and figure out what to wear (I’m a corporate professional and given the ‘business casual’ dress codes at most companies I’m never sure whether a power suit at an interview is too much or if dress pants and a sweater would come across as not professional enough…but usually err on the side of the power suit).

I’ve watched how much fun my friend has had with her blog and all the different friends she’s made and am hoping to eventually experience the same things – so if you’ve stopped in to take a very short (at this time) look around, I hope you’ll say hi!
